What is breathwork?
Breathwork refers to breathing techniques that intentionally channel and focus on the breath. For thousands of years, Eastern medicine practices, including Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine, have employed breathing techniques to calm the body and the mind.
Structured breathing is an active meditation practice that allows the body to process old or stagnant emotions so they may be released.
Using a repetitive breath pattern one can move the body into a powerful meditative state that alters the chemistry of the blood, increasing the amount of carbon dioxide. This can result in a perceived shift in consciousness leading to a vivid sense of clarity, creativity and peace.
Recent studies have also shown this practice to lower blood pressure, improve immune system function as well as reduce stress.

Hi there, I’m Spacebear
I discovered breathwork when I was 19. I was looking for natural, intuitive methods to explore my consciousness. As eager as I was, I found the practice very intimidating. The idea of not being in full control of my body and expressing emotions, in public, felt terrifying.
I ended my first session frustrated and confused, listening to other people describe the incredible insight and physical sensations they experienced, while I had struggled to lay still and remember the breathing pattern.
It took me a long time of practicing on and off, experimenting with different teachers and exploring various techniques, until one day I was finally ready to let go and genuinely open myself to the experience.
From then on breathwork has continued to be the most naturally powerful and consistent method I’ve found to explore my psyche. As an added bonus I later came to understand the fascinating science behind breathing and why it is both biologically and psychologically beneficial for the body to engage in frequent structured breathing.
Through my teacher and coach, George Ramsay, I became a certified breathwork facilitator and discovered the joy of sharing this gift with others. Being in a space full of human bodies breathing together in unison—breathing in community—taps into a deep and ancient yearning I never knew I had. It is an honor and a privilege to create the space for others to experience this for themselves.
